Once the battery and inverter have been commissioned by the installer, they'll then register everything with your Vultra account. Here's a few things we suggest you do to make sure that everything's set up appropriately and you have no issues controlling your energy:
-
Download the app - If you've not already downloaded the app, then now's the time to do it. You can download it either from the appstore or the playstore.
-
Set up your account - If you've not done so already, you'll need to set up your account. Make sure to use the email address you used when purchasing the battery - if you need to change this for any reason, send us an email at hello@vultra.com.au.
Note: If you've already registered your account, and you did this before your installation date, then you'll have been able to track information about your installation.
-
Turn on biometrics - to make life simpler when logging into the app, turn on biometrics. You should be prompted to set this up when you register your account for the first time, but if you miss this or want to do it later on, you can go to app settings in the main menu and flick the toggle on.
-
Check your information is all accurate - we will have set up your account using information provided at point of sale, it's worth just triple checking that this information is all correct.
-
Check out live energy flow - on the dashboard, you'll see your live view of the flows of energy in your home. This will show solar (if you have it), battery charging / discharging and grid import / export. The lines / arrow directions are based on the flow of energy. The data is typically updated every 5 mins, unless you pull down to refresh.
-
Provide us with your current tariff information - we'll prompt you for your current tariff information. It's worth providing this so that we can accurately reflect savings you've made by having the battery installed. If you decide not to do this right away, we'll simply estimate based on standard time of use plan timings and the VDO / DMO tariff rates.
-
Choose whether to export to the grid or not - you can select to export or not. Simple navigate to the battery settings page, and then toggle on / off the export to grid setting.
Note: if too much energy is being generated for the site (i.e. there's no / low consumption on site, and the battery is already full) the expected behaviour of the system is to export this excess energy to the grid. The setting will reset the following day.
-
Set your battery reserve state of charge - the reserve state of charge is the % of the battery that will always be left in reserve. If you have grid backup installed this becomes more important, because this is the energy that will always be available to you in case of a negative grid event or black out.
The default setting is 20%. You can go all the way down to 5% - although it's not recommended for maintaining the health of the battery. You're given a sliding scale of 5% to 40%.
-
Choose your operating mode - Go to the battery settings section of the app, which is defined by the battery icon. We have two distinct operating modes - you can read more about them here: What are the ‘modes of operation’? If you don't adjust the operating mode, it'll stick to "Auto" and we'll automatically control and charge / discharge your battery in line with our automated optimisation schedules.
-
Check out the graphs - there's a wealth of data about your energy consumption and the savings you're making by having the battery. Whilst the data won't be that rich just yet - as you've only just had the battery installed - it's still worth just getting familiar with where the data is and how to drill down into it.
-
Refer a friend - you'll now be able to access the refer a friend scheme, and your unique referral code is accessible under the main menu on the app. You'll have multiple ways to refer a friend. Remember you'll get $250 for each friend you refer, and there are no limits on referrals. Ts and Cs apply, and more information can be found here: Refer a Friend.
-
Send us a message - web chat is enabled by default in the app, just go to the main menu and click on help. It'll automatically open web chat and you can easily start a conversation with one of the Vultra team. Any issues, or any feedback, just let us know via this method.
